Maintenance
All
surfaces
require
care
both
inside
and
outside.
Any
deck,
driveway,
patio,
pool
or
sidewalk
needs
periodic
cleaning.
Maintenance
is
the
key
to
the
longevity
of
your
new
rubber
safety
surfacing
as
well.
Leaving
foreign
objects
unattended
long
term
can
damage
your surface. These include a wide range, such as:
•
sand and dirt, stones and leaves
•
tree sap, bird droppings
•
chewing gum, urine, blood,
•
tar, gasoline or grease
We
recommend
a
regular
periodic
washing
be
part
of
your
outdoor
routine.
Water
soluble
marks
and
stains
with
soap
and
water
and
oil
based
spots
and
stains
with
hot
water
and
blue
Dawn
detergent.
When
you
see
debris,
give
it
a
sweep
with
a
soft
bristle
broom,
use
your
leaf
blower
or
hose
with
your
garden
hose,
or
power
wash
with
your
residential
power
washer keeping it 18” from the surface.
Don’t:
•
use
metal
shovels,
metal
ice
picks
or
scrapers
or
sharp
objects
…
plastic
works
and
is
gentler on the surface, less risk of puncture.
Do use the following for cleaning and maintenance:
•
leaf blowers or lawn vacuum
•
Simple
Green,
30
Seconds,
Liquid
Laundry
Detergent,
Dish
Soap,
Borax,
Oxi-Clean,
White Vinegar, Hydrogen Peroxide
Left too long, in a dark, wet area and Algae/Moss/
Mildew/Mold showing up?
•
saturate
with
hydrogen
peroxide
and
let
stand
for
at
least
5
minutes.
Repeat
using
vinegar.
Soak
up
with
disposable
rags
and
double
rinse
with
clean
water
or
pressure
wash.
Avoid harmful solvents and cleaning products, such as:
•
acetate,
ammonia,
benzene,
carbon
tetrachloride,
chlorine
bleach,
glycerin,
lighter
fluid, mineral spirits, naptha, petroleum distillates, turpentine, WD40, petroleum jelly.
